Potassium regulates acid base balance of blood. It participates in nervous impulse transfer, activates muscle work of heart, has positive influence on skin and kidneys function. Potassium has a protective action against unwanted influence of natrium excess and normalizes blood pressure. For this reason some salt is produced with potassium chloride. Potassium can intensify urine separation that is important when edema and poisoning for quick excretion of toxins from blood.
Adult need in potassium is 2-5 g/day.
Potassium can be found in potatoes, carrots, cabbage, beetroot, onion, nettle, horse radish. There is much potassium in dried fruit, apples, grapes, beans and yeast.
