Zinc is a part of hormone insulin which participates in carbohydrate metabolism. Zinc is also included in range of other important ferments. Zinc is a part of more than 80 ferments in human organism. Zinc is necessary to form blood cells and other blood corpuscles. It also participates in photochemical reactions of sight process and in endocrine glands activity.
Lack of zinc influences sexual function and function of other organs and systems. Numerous onset of lack of zinc are often similar to those appearing by syndrome of presenilation. Another very important microelement of our organism tightly connected with zinc is selenium. It also controls sexual function. Usually insufficient synthesis of sexual hormones in organism causes both lack of zinc and selenium. Excess of zinc causes anemia.
Zinc daily requirement depends on age – 5-20 mg. only 10% of all the consumption is assimilated. Usual food ration satisfies this requirement. Zinc is concentrated in liver, prostate, retina. It’s contained in liver, meat, egg yolk, cheese, legumes and vegetables.
