Chlorine participates in digestive juices formation, blood plasma formation, activates some ferments, promotes water collecting in body tissues (together with natrium).
Chlorine daily requirements are about 2g/per day. Harmless dose is 5-7 g. Chlorine requirements are satisfied with usual ration containing 7-10 g chlorine, we get 3,7 g with bread and 4,6 with salt. If you do not consume any salt your ration contains just 1,6 g chlorine. Adult people get chlorine with salt mostly. Beetroot contains lots of chlorine. It is also contained in many cereals, vegetables, fruit and legumes.
